The Beginning of Online Games:
In the 80s (and arguably even much earlier), gaming quickly became a fun thing to do when online. With BBSs, they created "doors" out of the BBS program and into a separate program that allowed them to play a game over their online modem. Because of this, they were well known as "Door Games". Some were text adventures, some had basic-level graphics made up of text characters or ANSI graphics.
